Program Overview

Students will learn how to design in a 3D environment using beginner-friendly CAD tools. They will progress from basic shapes to creating real-world objects, creative projects, and preparing designs for 3D printing.
3D DESIGN CURRICULUM
MODULE 1: Introduction to 3D Design
Goal: Understand the 3D workspace and basic tools

- Navigating a 3D workspace (zoom, rotate, pan)
- Placing and manipulating shapes
- Scaling, rotating, and aligning objects

MODULE 2: Building with Shapes
Goal: Learn how complex objects are made from simple shapes

Skills Learned:
- Combining shapes (grouping)
- Cutting and hollowing objects
- Symmetry and alignment tools

MODULE 3: Name Keychain Design
Goal: Create personalized 3D designs
​
Skills Learned:
- Working with text in 3D
- Extruding letters
- Adding holes for keychains
​
Project:
Design your own custom name keychain
​
MODULE 4: Vehicle Design (STEM Focus)
Goal: Apply design thinking to real-world objects

- Designing wheels, and body structures
- Proportion and balance
- Functional and decorative design

Car, Truck, Boat, Bulldozer, Rocket, Airplane

MODULE 5: Home and Interior Design
Goal: Introduce architecture and spatial thinking

- Designing furniture using shapes
- Scaling objects
- Layout planning

Projects:
Table, chair, sofa, bed, bathroom items (sink, tub, toilet)
Create a house design and layout

MODULE 6: Creative Design Projects
Goal: Encourage creativity and imagination
Skills Learned:
- Independent design thinking
- Combining multiple techniques
- Customizing designs
Projects:
Robot, cup, phone holder
MODULE 7: Introduction to 3D Printing
Goal: Prepare designs for real-world printing
Skills Learned:
- Exporting STL files
- Prepare and finalize a design for 3D printing

By the end of the program, students will:
